HISTORIC LEIPZIG

Turn right down Goethestraße and make your way to the Egyptian Museum at the University of Leipzig, where you'll find an impressive collection of ancient Egyptian artefacts. In the square behind the university, you'll find the Saint Nicholas church, which is well worth checking out for its baroque architecture and historical importance. The church is considered one of the starting points of 1989's 'Peaceful Revolution', the revolt against communist rule in East Germany that led to the fall of the Berlin Wall and the reunification of Germany. Along Grimmaische Str, the Forum of Contemporary History provides insight into Leipzig's communist-era history and the reunification process.

OLD WORLD-CHARM IN MÄDLERPASSAGE

Conveniently close to your apartment hotel, near Leipzig's Old Town Hall, you'll find the entrance to the charming covered arcade of Mädlerpassage.
