Dalian is a thoroughly modern metropolis that revels in its dual roles as a resort town and a thriving trade and financial hub. Dalian manages to retain its Chinese sensibilities while letting the world in - a surprising number of the locals speak English and you'll find plenty of Western-style supermarkets as well as traditional wet markets to purchase your everyday needs. While the winters in Dalian are typically cold, they're much more mild compared to cities further inland and the spring and summer months are idyllically warm and pleasant. Step outside your serviced apartment to experience beachside fun and some breathtaking coastal walks.
Speaking of outdoors pursuits, Dalian's locals are football mad and with good reason. The city's previous home team, Dalian Shide, won the Chinese national competition no less than eight times. During your stay in our Dalian hotel, don't miss out on the opportunity to catch Dalian's current pro football team, Dalian Professional F.C. in action at the club's home ground, Jinzhou Stadium. For those travelling on business to Dalian, the city's modern infrastructure including the Dalian metro makes getting around between meetings easy.

Being a port city, Dalian has always had a close association with the sea and seafood features heavily in Dalian's dining scene. One local favourite is Sea Urechis Dumplings; made from a sea worm and mixed with fresh vegetables, the dumplings delight with a wonderful umami flavour. One of the best places to try Dalian's unique take on fresh seafood is WanBao Seafood Fang seafood restaurant, across the road from Laodong Park and only a short drive away from our serviced apartments near Dalian Bay. It's best to book ahead especially on weekends as the venue fills up quickly. Upon arrival, you'll be guided to specially made aquariums at the rear of the restaurant to choose your fresh seafood. The range is excellent and the service impeccable. Most of the staff speak English as well as Japanese and Korean - it's a pleasant experience all round.

Escape the city and head out for a scenic drive along Binhai Road, a winding road that hugs the southern coast. On one side, lush green mountains roll down to the glittering sea on the other. It's truly one of China's great coastal drives and well worth an afternoon out. Along the way, stop by some of the major attractions along the road including Hudiao Square, Brd Swinging Woods and North Bridge. Along Binhai Road's western route, the Dalian Forest Zoo is a great place to see China's national icon, giant pandas. Ask the concierge at your hotel in Dalian to help organise a hire car for you.
Dalian is China's premier summer resort town precisely because of its stunning summer weather and swimmable beaches. You'll find most of the beaches located either to the north or the south of the city centre. For a fun day in the sun, head to Jinshitan (Golden Pebble) Beach and the Jinshitan Scenic Area. Not only can you hang out on the beach and soak up some rays, but you can also enjoy some spectacular coastal walks, especially in the Dalian Coastal National Geopark. The area features unique and ruggedly majestic outcrops that jut out into the ocean.
