Few destinations in the world can claim to be both picturesque and pragmatic, but Singapore’s Marina Bay is undoubtedly one of them.
This body of water, framed by the iconic silhouette of Marina Bay Sands integrated resort, is also one of resource-scarce Singapore’s 17 reservoirs.
Today, Marina Bay is a prime attraction, surrounded by soaring skyscrapers and the stunning waterfront-facing ArtScience Museum, which blends art, science, culture, and technology in its exhibits.
Behind it is the verdant Gardens by the Bay, with its futuristic Supertree Grove and spectacular Flower Dome and Cloud Forest.
Marina Bay is easy for guests of Capri by Fraser, China Square to get to, which is ideal for corporate travellers headed to the Sands Expo & Convention Centre. At the same time, the area’s waterfront restaurants, chic bars and myriad shops are perfect for leisure travellers.
Orchard Road is Singapore’s premier shopping street, famous the world over for its glittering malls and wide range of dining and leisure options. Stroll along the tree-lined boulevard as you nip in and out of large chain stores and high-end boutiques at ION Orchard and Ngee Ann City, all the way down towards the Istana and Plaza Singapura. Enjoy the wide variety of restaurants, cafes and snack shops, or pop into a cinema or art gallery.
From Capri by Fraser, China Square, Orchard Road is only four train stops away to the city’s best retail therapy.
Just beyond the end of Orchard Road is the colourful enclave of Little India. Discover the rich culture, history, cuisine and architecture of this vibrant neighbourhood, where its customs and traditions have been faithfully preserved.
The lively streets are lined with aromatic spice shops, traditional Indian clothing stores, dazzling goldsmiths and some of the best South Indian vegetarian eateries. Look out for the many Hindu temples, especially the Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple.
Other landmarks include the Tekka Centre with its bustling market and hawker stalls (famous for their biryani and teh tarik or pulled tea). Don’t miss the 24-hour Mustafa Centre superstore, with its mind boggling array of goods under one roof.
Suntec City is a commercial and leisure hub with five office towers, a retail complex, and a convention and exhibition centre. It is famous for its huge Fountain of Wealth; from above, Suntec City’s office towers look like five fingers, with what is billed as the world's largest fountain in its palm.
Suntec City is just a short train ride or drive away from Capri by Fraser, China Square. It is a top destination for both business and leisure travellers for its wide range of attractions and the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre, which hosts numerous international conferences and events.
