Frankfurt am Main is an absolute must-visit city! It has always been famous as one of Germany's largest cities and the most vital financial centre in Europe. Furthermore, it has become a popular hotspot for stunning photos, showcasing a blend of historical architecture and modern buildings.
Often referred to as "Mainhattan," Frankfurt offers numerous things to see and places to go with locations for unique photo opportunities. Here are the top ten most Instagrammable spots in Frankfurt that you cannot miss while visiting Frankfurt:
This instagrammable spot has been transformed by artists from all over the world. The area of 36 concrete pillars, once a dark motorway underpass, is now a colourful open-air gallery popular with locals and tourists alike.
This photogenic market is located in the heart of the city, but is also a hidden gem to the local Frankfurters. Kleinmarkthalle is one of the best places to buy fresh veg, fish and meat – plus it's an amazing flower market too. Those who feel a bit peckish can also sample some delicious delicacies as they explore the stalls.
On the Westhafen “Ebbelwoi” Tower sit 3,500 glass triangles. They make the building highly reflective and very insta-worthy. If you are visiting during the summer, you’ll notice that some of the triangles are revealed to be windows drawing cool breezes inside.
This three-story building complex has served as Frankfurt’s main city hall for 600 years. While sections date back to the Middle Ages, the Römer was mostly destroyed during World War II. Today, it is home to the Frankfurt Christmas Market and makes for a great photo subject all year round.
Built in 1869, the bridge’s iron arches are included in many Expressionist paintings by German artist Max Beckmann. Two of my favourite shots are of the bridge and the skyline of the financial district.
This instagrammable building is made from glass with a giant hole in the middle of it. It was designed by Roman architect Massimiliano Fuksas and is part of the PalaisQuartier development. The best thing about this instagrammable spot in Frankfurt? You can pop into MyZeil for some shopping afterwards.
For great shots of the city skyline, take the one-hour panorama cruise with Köln-Düsseldorfer Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt. You will pass the Römer, the Museum Embankment and St. Paul's Church, all very insta-worthy and iconic landmarks in Frankfurt.
In front of the MesseTurm, or the Trade Fair Tower, you will find this great statue of a man busy at work, hammering. Standing at 21 metres high, this installation by artist Jonathan Borofsky is a symbol of the worker in all of us.
The motorized arm continuously swings the hammer back and forth, making this instagrammable spot great for Reel or Boomerang Instagram content.
In the midst of a construction site and with the Frankfurt Towers as backdrop, Laube Liebe Hoffnung is a hidden gem specializing in organic seasonal cuisine. If you're a foodie, this one is for you.
Home to 13,000 subtropical and tropical species, The Tropicarium Greenhouse at PalmenGarten is sure to add some colour to your feed. Designed by Gustav Schoser, Tropicarium consists of seven large and six small greenhouse units which reflect the waterlilies in a nearby pond. There are ten different tropical climatic-vegetation zones to explore here, each divide plants into groups according to their natural habitats, from arid to humid tropics.
