What you need to know for a successful business trip to Perth

Touching down on the tarmac in Perth, you wouldn’t know it’s one of the world’s most isolated cities if not for the long flight over oceans, dry bush and desert. On paper, it’s more than 2000 kilometres from Adelaide in a straight line and closer to parts of Indonesia than it is to Sydney. How to get around

First thing’s first. When your flight arrives, you’ll have the option of taking a bus or taxi to the city unless you’re hiring a car. From terminals 1 and 2, bus route 380 will take you to the CBD in around 50 minutes, while bus route 40 is what you’ll need to take from terminals 3 and 4 and should take around 45 minutes in normal traffic. While the bus is the more affordable option, taking a taxi or rideshare will cut the time to 25-35 minutes with the cost ranging from $35 to $55. An underground train line is being built and is tipped to be ready in late 2021, which will be a welcome relief for commuters. A heads up: the journey from the airport to the city isn’t particularly photogenic, so feel free to doze off until you get closer to the CBD.

During your business trip in Perth, you’ll have plenty of options when it comes to getting around the city. Within the CBD, CAT buses operate four circular routes free of charge along with several others in Fremantle. You’ll also have access to free travel on any Transperth bus or train within a central designated zone, so you’ll have no trouble keeping costs down while you move around the heart of the city. For general travel outside of the CBD, there are plenty of bus, train and ferry services that will get you where you need to go; while not essential, a SmartRider tap and go card is an easy way to remove the hassle of buying individual tickets. Plenty of taxis and rideshares are available throughout Perth and can be ordered at any time, but remember that Perth is an outdoor city which is why cycling and walking are popular options for getting from A to B. Countless paths snake in and around the city, especially along the picturesque Swan River.
