Whether you’re planning an event or attending one, the Brisbane Exhibition and Convention Centre is a world-class, award-winning and multi-functional venue that promises the kind of wow-factor people will be talking about for years to come.
Situated on the shores of South Brisbane, the state-of-the-art exhibition and convention centre first opened its doors to the public in 1995 and has been renowned for hosting premier events of the highest standard ever since. The BCEC is beloved by event organisers, international acts and world leaders alike thanks to its impeccable service, reputation as Australia’s most versatile event venue, and its ability to seamlessly transition and transform.
From hosting up to five conventions at a time to offering 44 meeting rooms capable of accommodating as little as eight to as many as 8,000 people, the options available for every meeting, event, gala function, concert and showcase are endless. Think spectacular city views in the intimate Sky Room and Terrace; high ceilings and stunning light displays for gala dinners, award presentations and trade show displays in the Plaza Ballroom; and tiered seating and top-notch audiovisual production equipment to make live music, comedy shows and high-profile speakers memorable in the Great Hall. One of the BCEC’s highest honours was being chosen to host the 2014 G20 Leaders Summit – it was also a favourably lauded event by its attendees.
The BCEC is so much more than just a pretty face, though. The venue offers a variety of state-of-the-art in-house services. In the kitchen, the award-winning gourmet catering team is led by Executive Chef David Pugh, whose star-studded culinary pedigree and passion for fresh local, seasonal ingredients and flavours, coupled with exceptional service from the Food and Beverage team, ensures every dining experience here is a wonderful and mouth-watering affair. Meanwhile, in the IT and AV department, more than 80 audio, visual and production experts are on hand to create an immersive and memorable experience that brings your event to life.
Behind the glitz and glam, the centre also houses a gallery home to a vast collection of traditional and contemporary indigenous art, as well as 20,000 square metres of dedicated exhibition space.
With such a stellar line up of services, facilities and diverse spaces, it’s no wonder that this world-class venue has won numerous accolades over its last 20+ years. The BCEC is the most awarded convention centre in Australia, with 178 industry awards to its name thus far (with 72 of those accolades in recognition of the venue’s exceptional catering), including The World’s Best Convention Centre by the Association Internationale des Palais de Congress (AIPC) 2016-2018.
Topping off the BCEC’s exceptional offerings is its beautiful and convenient location. In the heart of Brisbane’s South Bank Precinct, it's just moments from the city’s riverside where cultural attractions and a delightful array of shops, cafes and restaurants can be found. It’s also within easy reach of Australia’s most iconic UNESCO World Heritage-listed sites, like the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest.
