GLOBAL EFFORTS
We're dedicated to environmental responsibility, giving our guests the power to opt for linen changes only when needed, conserving water and energy. When bedding requires replacement, we make a positive impact by donating it to local beneficiaries. Our commitment to sustainability is underscored by our green certifications, which encompass BREEAM, CASBEE, Climate Active, and BCA Green Mark, with more certifications on the horizon. Upholding the highest standards of accountability and governance, we strictly adhere to Group Policies. We're proud to support 8 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, driving positive change across various facets of our operations.
REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT:
Many of our UK locations have already adopted 100% renewable electricity, and we're committed to ongoing conversions across the board. Moreover, we're proud to introduce duvets and pillows crafted entirely from 100% recycled PET bottles in select UK properties, with plans to expand this initiative to all our UK locations. Our UK offerings also include sustainable linens, featuring Spundown and Vegan Down materials. For our long-stay or VIP guests, we've introduced GoSwag gifts, which not only feature sustainable items but also eco-friendly packaging. As part of our company-wide green initiatives, UK properties engage in activities like upcycling, litter picking, tree planting, and actively promote paperless in-room information to reduce our environmental footprint. Beyond our properties, we collaborate with the Red Crossin Geneva to collect essential items such as clothing, toys, books, and soap for those in need. Additionally, we've extended our impact by donating food parcels to local hospitals in Paris.
REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT:
Capri by Fraser, Brisbane, stands as Queensland's pioneering hospitality property, having achieved Climate Active Carbon Neutral certification. We've partially shifted to renewable energy sources and invested in carbon offsets to reduce our carbon footprint. Additionally, our Australian portfolio is actively working towards Green Star Performance Certification by 2024. In Singapore, we've installed filtered water taps to promote a reduction in plastic bottle usage, while also partnering with organisations such as Food Bank Singapore for food donation drives, as well as implementing comprehensive waste management initiatives in alignment with the WWF Singapore Plastic ACTion (PACT) program. Right next door in Johor Bahru, tap water-saving valves are omnipresent in units, and used kitchen oil and food waste are recycled for bed planting of vegetables in local farms. Similarly, in Indonesia, regular mangrove planting efforts are organized in collaboration with guests, fostering awareness about biodiversity in the area.
REGIONAL SPOTLIGHT:
In China, we've implemented various initiatives to enhance sustainability efforts. We've adopted solar panels and advanced heat pump technology to conserve electricity, while also encouraging guest participation in water and waste management through our cleaning service schedule. We've introduced the Patrol system for electronic office operations, replacing paperwork, and we've enhanced efficiency with delivery robots, reducing labor needs. Additionally, solar water heaters and QR code-based ordering systems help save energy and reduce environmental impact. Our partnership with Soap-Cycling China further promotes both environmental and social sustainability. In Japan, water-saving measures like low-flow faucets have been implemented, and in South Korea, active guest engagement in recycling and food waste separation is encouraged, and plastic waste is further reduced by using amenities dispensers.
Sustainability plays a big role in future-proofing our business through innovation goals and strategic planning.
