Grand Opening of Fraser's Shenzhen Flagship
28 Dec 2005 - Shenzhen, China
Prime location and excellent service make Fraser Place Shekou highly sought after in premier extended stay market
Shenzhen 28 December 2005: Fraser Serviced Residences Pte Ltd (Fraser) today celebrated the Grand Opening of Fraser Place Shekou.  Boasting 232 luxurious apartments, the extended stay serviced residence is perfectly located in the heart of the biggest premier residential area in Shenzhen. With easy access to the commercial administration area at Guishan Road, nearby Nanhai Road and Shekou’s financial district, Fraser Place Shekou offers the maximum in convenience for expatriates and corporate travellers.

Designed and built by Fraser under contract from its owner, China Merchants Property Development Co. Ltd, Fraser Place Shekou is recipient of the prestigious Leadership on Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) award for environmental friendliness, one of only two residential buildings in Shenzhen to receive this award from the United States’ Green Building Council. The design reflects Fraser’s commitment to building family friendly living spaces that become homes for expatriates.
Fraser Place Shekou has been awarded the LEED certification in Energy, Land, Water, Material and Health Environment, particularly, the adoption of pure water system which makes the water directly drinkable from every tap on the premises.

Fraser Place Shekou can save 70% energy on average, which is reflected by each design factor, from the rooftop, walls, and glass to the elevators, electrical appliance switches, and lamps.  It is not an exaggeration to say that Fraser Place Shekou is one of the most energy efficient buildings in Shenzhen.  Because Shenzhen’s climate is hot in summer and cool in winter, it is thus critical to save energy through heat insulation to reduce power consumption.

Fraser Place Shekou has adopted hollow LOW-E glass which blocks 60% of heat while allowing 50% more shade compared with common glass.  Fraser Place Shekou has greatly exceeded the current national building energy-saving standard by adopting aerated concrete wall, energy-saving elevators and solar energy lamps in the courtyard.

With a range of options on offer from intimate studios to sprawling, luxuriously appointed four bedroom penthouses , Fraser Place Shekou was custom designed and tailored to the lifestyle needs of discerning expatriates and their families, offering services aimed specifically at long term guests, including separate living, dining and bedroom areas, fully-equipped kitchen, broadband internet access and full entertainment systems.  Facilities aimed at making families feel at home include babysitting services, a café, gymnasium, swimming pool, billiard and games room, children’s communal plays areas and a comprehensive spa service.

Since opening its doors to the first guests in September 2004 Fraser Place Shekou has gone on to enjoy healthy occupancy rates due to their brand and expertise in extended stay serviced residence market as well a well established international network and reputation for excellence.

Commenting on the partnership between Fraser Serviced Residences and China Merchants Property Development Ltd (CMPD). CEO of CMPD, Mr LIN Shao Bin said “We chose Fraser because of their brand and expertise in the extended stay market.  Their Gold Standard residences and their vision to constantly innovative to meet their lifestyle needs of their customers have won them an international reputation.”

As well as designing and building the Gold Standard serviced residence, Fraser will be providing management services to Shekou Holdings, most notably, this includes training all staff in Fraser’s “Needs Service” which allows staff to exercise initiative to surprise and delight guests, providing service that has become a differentiating factor for Fraser within each of its 14 residences around the world.

Attending the Grand Opening ceremony was Chief Operating Officer of Fraser, Mr CHOE Peng Sum who said, “it has certainly been a pleasure to partner with China Merchants Property Development Co. Ltd, who have recognised the importance of service and quality design in establishing an international standard serviced residence in Fraser Place Shekou” he continued to add “as the world experiences ever increasing foreign direct investment, and greater mobility, I am looking forward to bringing Fraser’s distinctive “Gold Standard” service to more and more locations with a doubling in the number of rooms we offer in 2006”

Present for the festivities was the Consul General of Singapore in Xiamen, Mr LIM Eng Hoe who said Fraser Place Shekou is a great example of the close relationship between the people of China and Singapore, and an example of the cooperation that is taking place.  I am sure that this heralds many more successful projects to come”

Fraser Place Shekou was built to cater to the growing numbers of international experts that oversee the wide and varied projects currently underway in Shenzhen.  With the strong growth in the Chinese economy there is great demand for the transfer of knowledge which has been fuelling demand in the extended stay residence market.

Shenzhen, China’s first special economic zone, is targeting economic growth of 13% for 2005 (source: Xinhuanet), much of this is fuelled by Foreign Direct Investment, which Fraser sees as a leading indicator of demand in the extended stay residence market.
Commenting on the opportunities that exist, Mr Choe said: “strong economic growth is leading to many opportunities in the extended stay market, our focus is being disciplined and only taking on projects that reflect the Fraser ideals of premium quality, location and service which lead to a pleasant and enjoyable experience for all of our guests”
