Frasers Hospitality opens in Suzhou, China
24 May 2011 - Suzhou, China Singapore, 24 May, 2011:- Frasers Hospitality Pte Ltd (Frasers) today officially opened Fraser Suites Suzhou, ushering a new level of hospitality for business executives in Suzhou, a rapidly-developing economic hub in China. Set in two 55-storey towers topped with a multi-faceted “diamond”, Fraser Suites Suzhou is an iconic landmark in Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), a Singapore-style industrial township set up and run by the China and Singapore governments. “Fraser Suites Suzhou is truly a gem,” says Mr Choe Peng Sum, Chief Executive Officer of Frasers. “It is the tallest and most prestigious building located in the heart of Suzhou Industrial Park; surrounded by key businesses, yet in close proximity to leisure and entertainment facilities and the beautiful JinJi Lake. The ‘diamond’ that tops off the building features a Sky Lounge, cigar bar, billiards room and meeting rooms with a magnificent panorama of the city and the rest of the park below.” Mr Lee Hsien Yang, Chairman of Fraser and Neave, Limited opened the property. The iconic towers were developed by Hong Kong-listed SPG Land, which recently opened luxury hotel Peninsula Shanghai on the famed Shanghai bund. “The Fraser brand of Gold-standard serviced residences was the clear choice for SPG Land when it was looking for a partner to manage its extended-stay properties,” said Mr Choe. Even as the partners opened Fraser Suites Suzhou, they signed agreements today for Frasers to manage two more SPG properties. These are in Wuxi and Ningbo and will open in 2015. “We believe the market is ready for Frasers’ gold-standard services,” said Mr Choe. “More than 100 Fortune 500 companies have operations at Suzhou Industrial Park and this is our target market.” Suzhou is today one of China’s top foreign direct investment destinations and Suzhou Industrial Park has more than 3,000 multinational corporations with utilized foreign direct investment of over US$15.9 billion. Singapore companies have also been flocking there; the Suzhou government announced that it has signed more than 30 agreements with Singapore companies worth over US$1.6 billion .
